The National Identification Registration Authority (NIRA) of Uganda is calling upon all citizens who have misplaced or lost their national identity cards to take immediate steps to secure a replacement. Emphasizing the urgency of the matter, Osborn Mushabe, the official spokesperson for NIRA, conveyed this message during a press briefing held at the Naguru police headquarters.

Mushabe further elaborated that the original national identity cards, if retained, are anticipated to play a significant role in the upcoming procedures for card renewals for the entire population. Therefore, he stressed the importance for individuals to possess these original cards, as they may be required for verification or validation purposes in the future renewal process.
