Uganda's Electoral Commission makes way for Kampala's stunning flyover project, as the authority hands over its offices to the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) on Jinja Road. This marks the commencement of the second phase of the city's ambitious flyover construction, set to transform the capital's traffic patterns and ease congestion.

In a symbolic gesture, Justice Simon Byabakama, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, personally handed over the files containing particulars of the land at Plot 55 Jinja Road to Eng. Lawrence Pario, the Contracts Manager of the Kampala Flyover Project. With this handover, the UNRA can now take the necessary steps to proceed with the much-anticipated project.

During the handover, Justice Byabakama confirmed that the Electoral Commission had received 23 billion shillings from the UNRA as compensation for the transfer of its offices. He added that the funds were partially used to acquire their new offices, ensuring a smooth transition for the Commission.

The Kampala Flyover Project aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the city, particularly during rush hour, by constructing a series of elevated roads above major intersections. The project is expected to significantly improve traffic flow, reduce travel time, and enhance overall transportation efficiency in the capital.

With the handover of the Electoral Commission offices, the Kampala Flyover Project is one step closer to completion. The project is a vital component of the government's broader plan to modernize and transform Uganda's infrastructure, promoting economic growth and development across the country.
