The Church of Uganda's
Archbishop Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu was present at the installation of Bishop
Onesimus Asiimwe as the new bishop of North Kigezi Diocese at St. Emmanuel
Cathedral in Rukungiri District. During the event, the archbishop urged
Christians to offer their support and prayers to the new bishop for guidance
and wise decision making in developing the area.
Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu
also acknowledged that there would be challenges and temptations that the new
bishop would face in his newly established ministry. However, he encouraged the
bishop to seek God's guidance, assuring him that with faith, he would overcome
any obstacles.
Furthermore, the Archbishop
reiterated his opposition to homosexuality and advised Christians not to be
swayed by money, but rather to stay strong in their faith. He urged Christians
to stand for the truth and reject any ungodly acts in places of worship.
Bishop Asiimwe, on his part,
promised to work towards the transformation of the communities through
teaching, preaching, and healing, while strengthening the Church's
institutions, structures, and systems to empower God's people. He also called
on the government to collaborate with the Church to improve healthcare services
in the diocese.
